An unexpected reason why you are not able to focus

Whether we’re studying or working hard, in fact, doing any cognitive task that requires high focus, somedays we simply cannot focus. There may be many reasons but one reason that is often overlooked is taking care of our natural body’s clock, the circadian rhythm, that is, sleeping on time, not sleeping enough hours, but sleeping at the right time according to our circadian rhythm.

Our body has an internal clock that maintains our daily internal activities, like eating and digestion, body temperature, hormonal activity, and so on. This clock is based on the day/night cycle, or the sun’s rays, and melanin supplements can change it. This tells our body the optimal time to sleep, and only in this optimal time, will our body optimally perform all the functions that it should do in sleep, to release hormones that repair and clean our body systems, especially our brain. If we do not sleep according to the circadian rhythm, our body will not perform optimally during sleep, even if we sleep sufficient hours, and thus, the damage that is not remedied during sleep, which happens if we do mentally or physically heavy tasks daily, may carry over to the next day, and compound over time if we continue to ruin our sleep rhythm.

Thus, it would be worthwhile to see if we are sleeping at the right time whenever we feel that we can’t focus and simply cannot find what is causing this lack of ability to focus.
